Midwifery Program
Midwifery Program
Midwives provide culturally-centered, family led care throughout pregnancy, birth, the early parenting journey, and reproductive years.
The Midwifery Program at Giishkaandago’Ikwe Health Services is committed to restoring and celebrating Indigenous birthing traditions, fostering healthy pregnancies, safe births, and thriving families. Our midwives weave together the worlds of traditional knowledge and modern healthcare. We care for the whole family within a holistic circle of physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness.
We provide complete health care during your pregnancy. When it is close to time for your baby to be born, we will safely transition your care to a delivering provider for your labour and birth. After your baby is born, you and your newborn return to our program. Our midwives provide primary care, health monitoring, and wellness support for up to six weeks postpartum.
