The Mino Ayaa Ta Win Healing centre provides a comprehensive bed-based treatment program and withdrawal management services (WMS) for individuals interested in bi-cultural services and interventions to address substance use disorders, personal history of abuse & trauma, grief & loss, relationship issues, emotional dysregulation and more

Services Provided:

Withdrawal Management Services:

  • medically supervised withdrawal management from alcohol and drugs
  • case management 
  • treatment referrals
  • safekeeping for individuals awaiting treatment
  • peer support


Residential (Bed-Based)Treatment Program:

  • Bi-cultural services incorporating best and wise practices in addiction treatment services
  • daily group programming and sharing circles
  • weekly sweatlodge ceremonies  
  • drumming and singing
  • cultural activities including sewing, beading, leatherwork etc.
  • seasonal land-based activities such as harvesting wild rice, tapping for maple sap, ice fishing etc
  • leisure and recreation opportunities
  • self-help meetings.


Rapid Access Addiction Medicine:

Mino Ayaa Ta Win is also home to our Community Addictions Services which provide Rapid Access Addiction Medicine (RAAM) for individuals looking to make changes in their substance use. RAAM Services are low barrier, easy to access and offer nursing, counselling and peer support.

  • Fast access to medication assisted therapy for alcohol and opioid use disorders
  •  Evidence based addiction medicine, which include:
  •  Opioid Replacement therapy Buprenorphine (Suboxone/Sublocade - 1st Line), Methadone
  •  Alcohol urge reduction medication
  •  Brief support/referrals for individuals not currently connected to addiction recovery services

Who is eligible?

  • Mino Ayaa Ta Win Healing Centre services are open to individuals ages 18 and up, who are experiencing problems with misuse of alcohol and/or drugs. It is a voluntary service.
  • All potential clients must demonstrate a willingness to participate in the healing process and desire to address the challenges he, she, they or them are having with substance misuse. Members from the 10 First Nations that mandate Gishkaandago'Ikwe Health Services will have first priority for admission into the Mino Ayaa Ta Win Healing Centre, followed by members of the Rainy River District and then other areas/districts/provinces. 
  • Community Addictions/RAAM services are available to individuals living in any of the communities that Giishkaandago'Ikwe Health provides services to. RAAM services can be accessed directly in your community through our Community Addictions Nurse, who travels directly to each First Nation.

       Alternately, RAAM Services can be accessed through the RAAM clinic located in Fort Frances

  • Anyone over the age of 16 years who is experiencing substance use issues and is seeking access to medical addiction care, counselling or support can access our Community Addictions Services or RAAM clinic.
